Teaching – Violin

Violin Teacher Kate Kingsley who lives in Somerton, Somerset, is a professional violinist and is available to teach the violin in Somerton, Somerset and the surrounding area.

Violin lessons with Kate are usually 30 minutes in length but this is depending on the age and ability of the pupil, and the lessons can be increased to 45 minutes or an hour if required.

The lessons are structured around each pupil with beginners and very young children being taught all aspects of the instrument, from holding the violin, and the use of the bow.

During their lessons the pupil will be taught how to read music, the theory of music, general technique of playing the violin, scales and arpeggios and sight-reading.

They will also be taught at various stages different types of bowing from staccato, spiccato and many others.

As pupils improve so the structure of each lesson changes to suit the standard, so that there is a gradual increase in their progress with new techniques, notes, scales and arpeggios being added at all levels.

Not all pupils wish to take examinations but if they wish to Kate is happy to prepare students for the Associated Board Graded Examinations and will include sight-reading and aural training, and accompanying if required in the lessons.

Learning the violin should be an enjoyable experience and Kate hopes that what ever your stage in playing the violin she can help you enjoy playing it more.
